Beyond Fest Panel / “Women In Horror: The Female Perspective”

Amazon Studios brings together a remarkable group of people to create stories that reflect the society we live in today - from Gigi Saul Guerrero's BINGO HELL, which examines gentrification, community and immigrant experience through a Bingo Hall, to Axelle Carolyn’s THE MANOR, which offsets the horrors of dementia against society’s preconceived notions of old age, from Ryan Zaragoza’s MADRES in which alongside co-writers Marcella Ochoa and Mario Miscione where the idea of motherhood is examined through an immigrant perspective in spooky circumstances to Maritte Lee Go's BLACK AS NIGHT, where the fragile nature of growing up and the debilitating nature of low self-esteem goes toe-to-toe with very real vampires, this new quartet of movies explores society through many prisms. Bringing together the talent behind these films is producer Lisa Bruce and moderator Clarke Wolfe, this panel will be examining the myriad of ways the female perspective is changing the horror genre as well as looking at the intersectionality of the unique individuals and how they combine their background to forge unique new identities.
